The beginning of June spelled the start of the Hay & Haylage season. Whilst we tend to wait till July before making our first batch of Hay due to the high sap content in the grass, we did not pass an opportunity in June to benefit from the sunshine and we made our first batch of small bale meadow haylage. These will be on sale in 8 weeks time to our equine customers and provide dust free forage throughout the winter months.
This year’s Open Farm Sunday at Farndon Fields Farm Shop near Market Harborough was a great success! We were asked to help out during the day and provide some arable machinery for the visitor’s to look at. On show were both of our Newholland T7’s and our Vaderstaad Rapid drill with GPS variable rate (see our technology page for more details). It was great to see so many visitors explore the sites of a running farm; there was everything from pigs, sheep and ducks to tractors, combines and strawberry tunnels. Even the weather came out to celebrate this national event that is run every year in June!
